COVID-19 UPDATE: I follow the recommendations from the CDC and Washington-specific mandates, and currently facilitate my individual and couples therapy sessions remotely, through Zoom or in-person abiding by the appropriate protocols. Please reach out with any questions on how I’m providing a safe and effective therapeutic space for my clients.

My approach to therapy starts with a foundation of care and respect for my clients. I believe it is a true honor to be entrusted with the issues and concerns in my client’s lives. It takes a lot of courage to face our problems and much resolve to make the needed changes in our lives.

I work collaboratively with my clients to establish clear, measurable goals for therapy. Once goals are established, I become more directive in terms of treatment. I offer direct, honest feedback and clear guidance to facilitate the change needed to reach each client’s unique treatment goals.

I incorporate a variety of practitioner tools from across the mental health profession. I borrow most heavily from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and Bowen Family Systems Theory.

CBT combines both cognitive therapy (identifying and challenging irrational or maladaptive thoughts) and behavioral interventions (exposure therapy).

The objective of Solution Focused Brief Therapy is to help people work toward resolutions. The focus is on the present, the future and how to achieve desired changes in life. I also explore my clients’ past experiences so I can understand and empathize with their current challenges. The past provides the context that brings focus to the present.

Bowen Family Systems Theory is a theory of human behavior that views the family as an emotional unit, helping people find balance between their emotional (feeling) and intellectual (thinking) functioning within relationships.

Feel free to contact Kyle via email or simply leave a message on his confidential voicemail if you would like to schedule a session – 425.616.1800.

Kyle recommends a 10-minute conversation to get an overview of the issues you want to address in therapy. This conversation may also help you determine if the two of you are a “good fit.” Good rapport is a very important component of effective therapy.
